ARTIST INFORMATION:
Kyan Bishop was born in Seoul, South Korea and was raised in northern Minnesota. She is a sculptor and installation artist whose work has been included in numerous galleries and alternative exhibition spaces around the country. Her body of work is largely influenced by the environment in which it comes to exist - whether that be through the integration of materials that are locally collected, or, through the creation of synthetic landscapes. While at times highly referential in nature, Kyan views her work as an intimate exploration of space, time and reflection upon our rapidly changing landscape. She currently is working on a large-scale installation project examining discord, dissonance, memory and shifting cultural identity.

Since 2007, Kyan has served as a Board Member of the Washington Sculptors Group, a membership organization of sculptors, collectors and gallerists based in the Washington, DC area. She has an undergraduate degree from Denison University in Economics and Spanish and a Studio Art degree from Montgomery College. Kyan resides in Washington, DC and her studio is located in Brentwood, MD.
